Month 2

10th February 2003 to 09 March 2003

The Spots

I had a sort of mini outbreak at the beginning of the month with 4 or 5 pretty big nodules staying around for a week on my nose and back. By the 3rd week of the month they'd all gone, and I've only had 1 very small whitehead on my nose over the last 2 weeks, that includes my whole body.

The Dryness

The dryness has got less severe but spread to my neck, scalp and upper back. I've been treating this with some E45 Emolient Bath Oil and some T/Gel.

I've decided washing with just water probably isn't that good for my skin so I've started using Simple Foaming Facial Wash, which also helps to moisturise a bit.

My hair is getting quite dry now so in addition to the T/Gel I use some VO5 Moisture Soak Shampoo and conditioner.

Nearer the end of the month my forehead also became very dry.

My lips are fine as long as I put Blistex Relief Cream on at least twice a day. My contact lenses are fine as long as I put drops in in the the afternoon and evening.

My hands need a ton of moisturiser on them to stop them from getting a horrible dry rash.

The Side Effects

Had my 2nd blood test in the first week of the month, they only let me know the result if it's bad, so I presume it's ok.

At the beginning of the month I had quite a few nose bleeds, but I haven't had any during the last 2 weeks as I've been putting Vaseline up there!

I started getting what I call hot flushes a few times a week, where my face goes a bit red and feels very hot for no reason. This went on for 3 weeks and stopped in the last week of this month.

Haven't had any mood changes.

Thoughts

Well it's going pretty well at the moment. No major problems, the dryness is easy to cope with, in fact I welcome it after 7 years of greasiness.

This has been the first time for a few years that I don't have to rush home at the end of the day with my head down to sort my face out. I can stay at uni if I want to, or go out to get something to eat. I'm also feeling noticeably less stressed. By the end of the day I usually have a bit of a headache and need to lay down for half an hour. Not having to constantly worry about how I look has really improved my overall mood and health.

After reading so many scare stories I was expecting much worse things. Still I guess it's to early to be sure.

I probably should just mention that I have not had any depression at all as yet, how could I when I look this good!!
